I can give you some information about why I keep saying it's coming, it's coming...

So here's my timeline of how I've been working on this software. The main feature, ffmpeg integration, really only runs on *nix. I had to figure out how exactly to install it on windows. Once I got it installed I have to be able to support it with both, windows and *nix. This has caused much more of a problem than I had anticapted. I spent a whole week and a half on just getting it installed and working on windows.

I had to re-write a bunch of the front end as well. I wrote a new database class which helps with the stripping of slashes out of the database. I had to find a few bugs issues and figure out how to fix them. It's not exactly the easiest thing to do trying to replicate a bug. I then started more work on the backend. As I moved on towards the front end I realized I'm missing a few things within the admin area. I had to redo a bit of the admin area in order to get it all working.

Every file on the front end has been recoded already and is ready to go. Nearly half the backend is done as well. This includes me recoding every file and making it work much better.

One of the biggest issues I saw in the backend was the ability to not save information at the same time. Meaning, settings, you had to do these one by one. I had to recode that so that it would properly work without any issues. This took quite a bit of time with testing and figuring out exactly how I wanted it.

I'll be honest with you, when I first stated that it will be in the next version I was not exactly working on it as religiously as I am now. Trust me, if you see the amount of work going into this you would understand why it's taking so long.

I also do not give an ETA as often times I will run into an issue which will give me problems. I expected to have it done, released and ready to go by now, but obviously it's not.

On top of all this, I have to make sure I document each change in order for the install / upgrades to work properly. :)

Here is my original todo list:
- Display Added Dates
- Download
- Ability to not allow guests to download
- User Uploads
- Report Videos
- Email to Friend
- Ratings
- Search in Admin
- "N" Issue
- Display Who Added
- .MOV in IE (http://www.humorsoftware.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92)
- Admin / Frontend cookies.
- Search pagination.
- Drop downs in IE
- Contact Page
- Height and Width for each file
- Banner Specific Codes
- Banner Manager
- ffmpeg Integration

Some of these features have been put off but many area already done as well.

The template codes are mainly only on the file template. There are a few minor changes within the other areas such as next / previous links. The variables for those have changed as well.

If I move the price up a bit it will affect everyone eventually. Although I have been thinking about it, especially for the branding free option. I'll be sending out an email soon about progress with the next version as well as some additional information about Humor Software in general.

Please do keep us posted. I purchased the script about a month ago when the new version was expected shortly after and have been putting off the launch of my site since I have several modifications I'd really like to get done beforehand.

You will loose customers this way. You have promissed us a update for a long time now, and now you'll raise the price so you will work harder to keep your promisses!?

We have paid our licenses already!
This really pisses me off!!

Doesn't seem like it is for new customers only.

I've also been waiting for... a while. Any chance of releasing it before you complete all the documentation or whatever? I know you've got other things to do, but I was told it would be released 'this weekend' for the past few weeks :P.

I'm not sure why this will piss you off? It won't affect you for a whole year until your license has expired. You will all recieve the software upgrade free of charge.

Those are some great updates, looking fwd. for the new version.
I guess I am going to delay developing the website with a new skin until the new version is out, nopoint coding a skin for this version.

Ryan, a timeline for the next update would be much appreciated :)

promonde (http://www.humorsoftware.com/forums/member.php?u=51), Just hold your horses, would you rather have a crappy script or a bad one, if I was Ryan, id revoke your license for causing all this non-sense over nothing.

Hey Ryan,

I can understand the frustrations you and the members are going through in getting this scipt finished and released. How about releasing some sort of Beta version so the members can work with it and give you some feedback on bugs and such? I am certain that after it is released, given the total re-write of the script, that there will be a ton of issues that need to be addressed so why not get a jump on some of that now? The members will have something to work with and hold them over until the final is released and you can get a jump start on possible compatability issues.

Just a thought....

Uncle Tim

It's not a bad thought, but the thing with that is that I will end up having to support someone who will attempt to run this version as a production website. I may end up installing the version via another website and give my members access. Then they can tinker on there and help find bugs.
