Hi Ryan,

Your script looks great so far. Thank you so much ! But I have some questions, please?

Please bear with me. I am very new at this but am capable of understanding clear instructions (most of the time, anyway, GRIN!) These are a lot of questions. I did read through the threads so hopefully there are no duplicate questions.

1. Admin keeps logging me out every 10-20 seconds or so. It doesn't do it every time, but does it enough to be very irritating. How to fix?

2. Are there any jokes included with this script?

3. I added Categories and they appear in the Admin page, but not on the website. How do I fix that? All that shows is "Video Categories" but nothing else.

3.A. I see a few threads on multiple categories appearing after they import the video packs. Should I delete the few categories I made?

3.B. Does importing the video packs make categories for you?

3.C. The categories I created in the admin area do not relist themselves automatically alphabetically. If I can get them to show up on my site, will they alphabetize or should I add them in the order I want them to appear?

4. How do I change the logo on my site which says Humor Software?

5. Ads. One thread says you can change the google adds to my google id. How? Both on top and lower left, please.

5.A. How do I delete google ads?

5.B. How do I change to a different advertisers ads? Like Yahoo, or
whatever?

6. Your website says I can make my own extensions. But in the admin it only has videos, pictures and game extensions. How do I add .txt files for just plain old fashioned written jokes, so my husband can
cut and paste jokes? I know to go to admin, but how do I add the .txt extension, and what code should I add for it?

7. Can I add other jokes other than your joke video packs? How?

8. There is a thread about "for .mov files you have to make a modification.." and that you will fix in next version. Can you please post instructions on how to modify the script so it will work with .mov files?

9. I host with GoDaddy, PHP on Linux. They have GD installed. Do I still need to upload something called thumbnails? What is that, how do I do that?

10. Will you be creating a help or instruction manual? If so, when, approximately?

I think I need a coder or something for these type things, but I thought I would still ask you here:

11. Can I add a blog? How?

11.A. Can I add a forum? How?

11.B. Can I add a link to the blog and/or forum on the home page? How?

That's it for now. I'll continue reading the threads. Back to waiting for the 2 Video Packs to upload to the site.

Its a known bug.. if you log into your domain.com while logged into the admin, youll get logged out.. I believe its goin to be fixed in the next version.

Not sure if this is some sort of bug, but if you add something to that category it will show up

Hmm.. I'm not too sure about this one, I'm guessing that with the video packs it will come with the sql db for you to import.. so in that I'm pretty sure it should create the actual category

From what I see on mine, the categories are listed in alpha order

Navigate to your images folder and find the file called "logo.gif". The best way I would think is use an editing software (photoshop, paintshop, etc) and make a new one.. the size should be height-63 width-231

Go to your templates folder and find the file that the google ad is displayed on.. I believe its header.php

5.A. How do I delete google ads?

Good question.. I believe this will be something you'd have to mod or possibly have Ryan work into the script

I'm not exactly sure what youre asking.. jokes as in text or funny videos? If videos, all you'll have to do is upload to the 'upload' folder, when you go into the admin and click on add video, you'll see it there.

I believe its just the extension you have to edit.. in the newest version I see a .mov extension.. I have yet to try a .mov file though, but I'm sure it works unless theres a known bug that will be soon fixed.

Apparently, if you have GD library installed the script will auto create the thumbnails for you from the uploaded videos.. someone else might want to touch down on this because I'm not too experienced with GD.

Theres an install.txt that comes with the packaged script. It is very easy to follow!

It is possible, either Ryan would have to mod it into the site or you can find a 3rd party script to install which is possible. I currently have 2 3rd party scripts mod'd into my site running humorsoftware at the moment and plan to add a lot more.

You should be able to download a forum script like vb or invision and install it to run with the script.

11.B. Can I add a link to the blog and/or forum on the home page? How?
If you want the links to sit in the left column of the site as shown in the demo, edit the header.php. You will need to know some basic html for this however.

Thank you so much for the good info. There are still a few questions outstanding. The logo question I started another thread in the Modification category. The others I will look into and hopefully have no problems with.

I'm asking about both - or either. I guess that rolls into the above question about .txt files.

Theres an install.txt that comes with the packaged script. It is very easy to follow!
I was able to follow the install.txt info, it is very easy. However, what I mean is actually a help or instruction manual. Any thoughts on that, Ryan?

there are many places that offer free and shareware scripts.. best place i would think of for now is www.hotscripts.com

- Text files would require some work. I'll figure out a work around for this.
- Yes, I'll create a user manual for the next version. Hopefully this version will allow for more development of other features not actually included in the software but in this site and along those lines such as user manuals.
- Like he mentioned above, the third party scripts can be found in a number of places on the net. www.hotscripts.com is a great place to start.
